Privacy Policy

What we collect

NodeTone has no accounts, no sign-in, and no tracking. We do not store your IP address, browser user-agent, cookies, or any other identifier, and we keep no server access log. There is nothing in our records that identifies you or links one visit to another.

Your IP address is used transiently, in memory only, to apply a rate limit that protects the search service from overload. It is never written to disk and is discarded continuously.

We run no third-party analytics and no advertising trackers. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated first.

Search queries

We do keep a log of the searches run on the site — the words typed, which results were shown, and which result was clicked. This is how we find out where the search is bad and improve it; relevance cannot be measured without it.

These entries are anonymous. They carry a timestamp and the query text, and nothing else — no IP address, no session or device id, no cookie. Individual searches cannot be tied to a person, or to each other. Because the query text is free-form, please don't type anything personal into the search box; we have no way to find or remove an individual entry afterwards, precisely because nothing identifies it. Logs are retained for a limited period and then deleted.

Outbound links

Gear pages may link out to third-party retailers to view or buy an item. Once you leave NodeTone, that site's own privacy policy and cookies apply — we don't control and aren't responsible for their data practices. See the Affiliate Disclosure for how those links work.

Cookies

NodeTone itself does not set advertising or tracking cookies. Any cookies present are strictly functional (e.g. keeping the site working correctly) unless stated otherwise above.

Data sharing & sale

We do not sell personal data. We do not have any data to sell — see “What we collect” above.

Changes

As NodeTone adds features (accounts, saved searches, analytics, etc.) this policy will be updated to describe them before they launch.
